I just received a convo on etsy that is so nice I'm gonna have to share...
"...My wife loves sock monkey's, she had always wanted one since she was a child, and looking at all the others I really am impressed with your design, I think they are great..."
I too have "looked at all the others" and it truely touches my heart when someone chooses one of my creations over all that is on etsy. I think this is the perfect time for me to share MY sock monkey story......
I had only been making sock monkeys for about a month and hadn't seen one in person for years. It was this past December, I was out shopping and from across the room I saw a sock monkey, the traditional red heel type and I practically ran to it chanting "sock monkey - sock monkey - sock monkey" When I arrived to the display, there was only one left, I lifted it with so much excitement I was ready to burst. I couldn't wait to feel it and see the label, who made it, what was their story, where were they from? Then, gradually, all of my excitement drained...right out of me...I felt it, puddling on the floor around me. As I inspected this poor "thing" that was SOOO manufactured that it wasn't even a real sock, it was printed fabric, cut out into two pieces and sewn together, I seriously almost cried. You see, it had no soul. You could feel it, it's nothing-ness, totally empty. I felt so sorry for it I wanted to buy it and give it a home.
So I learned that day, just how special my sock monkeys are. Even though I like to keep them simple and traditional they are full of heart, soul, and personality. You can see it in them and you can definitely FEEL it in them. I am proud to be creating something that "comes to life" and spreads joy.
Thank you, to all of you, who have given them homes!

Tree Hugger Sock Monkey
This is Marley, the tree hugger sock monkey. He is a gentle and caring soul with a spirit that is as free as the wind. He has never met a stranger, and though he is a bit quiet...he can talk your arm off...especially if the conversation turns to global warming or his vegan lifestyle.
I had the best time bringing this guy to life. I really love making my sock monkeys the traditional way then adding something to make them new and different. He is listed in my etsy shop if you'd like to see more pics...www.thepetticoatpirate.com
Thanks for looking, have a great Wed...don't forget to pick up your powerball tic.

The Sugar's
I've been working on the "Sugar's"...
This is the first one I made back when I was learning how to make sock monkeys, so he has a sock body. He was bought by an artist during the ArtWalk and now lives with an artsy fartsy family!
His name is Seymore -
After doin some sketches I came up with a new version and sewed it up yesterday. It is made out of canvas and is more of an art doll than a lovey, it is not snugglie.
His name is Mr. Sugar -
Then today I thought I'd try out something soft and snugglie...
This is Petuna Luna Sugar -
